UPDATE 1/23/21: Amazon got me a replacement within a couple of days, much faster than the tracking said it would arrive. Very happy about that. The replacement unit also did not have the feeder feet guides??!! I checked the manual, I checked online, again, all models show the unit with the feeder guide, and my unit simply did not have them.HOWEVER, because now I'm frustrated and really need this label maker because I have orders waiting to be shipped, I go through with trying to feed my labels anyway thinking maybe I can make it work with a workaround and the power of my WILL.I figure it out and am able to see I can load my labels without the feed guides. Look at my awesome powers!Be aware you won't be able to load the label paper the way aaaaaalllllll the videos say to or how the manual shows you. It simply is a matter of placing it all the way inside with the top open and closing it down over the label. At least that was my experience.OK, so now I install the driver. It comes on a USB thumb drive. It's cute. It's kind of confusing because the instructions say one thing about what to expect re content but the actual contents of the thumb drive are actually a bit different. There are extra 'files' that I have no idea what they do and there's no instructions or comments about what they are for. They best not be malware or other BS.Instructions say to click on one of two folders based on whether you use Windows or Mac. So I ignore the other 'extra' stuff and find the one that matches closely enough for the Windows folder name as described in the manual (again- it's just a bit different).I start the install process. It does say that you have to have the unit turned on and connected to the computer BEFORE installing the driver. Did all that- triple checked connections. Installation failed. My computer would not recognize the usb connection from the label printer. The trouble shooting instructions say if it doesn't install correctly to unplug and reconnect the USB- they promise, it WILL work it says. Nope.I tried this about 6 times. Troubleshooting instructions didn't work for me.BTW- I'm running a brand new fancy HP touchscreen computer that's maybe 2 weeks old, latest Windows, etc.I decided to change the port for the usb *just in case* it was something simple like that. It was.Moved the usb to another port and immediately it registered and the next installation attempt was successful. YAY!! The first port had been running my external hard drive from my recent transfer from my old computer so I know it works. Not sure why the label printer's usb didn't like that one or my computer didn't like the usb in that port- either way- if you are having any issues with this maybe something to *just try* even if it makes no sense to do so.Now, this all takes an absurdly long time because of all the failed attempts and restarting the computer multiple times to see if *that* is what makes the difference and gets it to notice or show the new printer. It shouldn't have been this difficult. Now that the printer is finally showing up in my system, I go through the instruction's process for managing the printer settings. The first thing you do is print a test label. Even though the instructions tout -no waste first label- you end up still having to use a label to test your first print. I mean, that's fine, just don't lie to us is all I'm asking. Also, the unit does come with an ample supply of starter labels, and I think that's a classy thing to do. All goes smoothly here. Test label prints beautifully. We seem to be in business. Woohoo!!Now it's time to get my orders shipped, and I've just been waiting to print labels on my new label printer. I head over to my Shippo, which this model says it works with just fine. It doesn't. Not really. I go into Shippo to change my label settings for my cool new label printer to 4 x 6. Shippo puts it into a PDF that open in my browser. Not questioning this, I hit print, and it crashed my whole computer. Like literally crashes it. My brand new, beautiful, shiny two-week old baby. Luckily, it comes back to life. The crash happened so fast that the error message it showed flew by too fast for me to read, and I thought MAYBE it was just restarting for the first label because reasons. I mean, IDFK at this point why it does the things it does, OK people?Get things back on, Chrome restores the Shippo page and PDF, and I hit print again. CRASH. I actually did this like THREE MORE TIMES because I don't learn so good apparently. The third time I was able to get it on video because like before, the crash is so fast the error page can't be read, so I'm left trying to figure out what exactly has gone wrong. The video was my attempt to freeze frame the error page on playback.I'm just about ready to throw this printer into the garbage and set everything on fire. And I mean everything because I don't want to live in a world like this anymore. I remember I can still print this label onto my normal printer, so I do. I pull myself back from the edge of the abyss. Maybe I'll get through this after all. In order to do that, I must download the label as a file and open it from my computer, rather than printing it from the browser. All is well, I have my label, and start planning ahead for the rest of my shipments that need labels, figuring I'll have to stick to my old system of label printing on full sheets of sticker paper for now until I can visit Office Depot and pick out a label printer in person. Then, a tiny devil came and sat on my shoulder and said, "Try it again with the label printer. But like, with the file on your computer." And I'm like, "That's crazy talk- I'm not doin' it!". And the little tiny devil dude is like, "Doooo iiit" and I'm all "NO!" and he's all 'Yesss", so them I'm like, "Fine."And you know what beyotches? It effing WORKED.If I download the shipping label PDF onto my system, and print from there, rather than the browser, it works like it's supposed to. I got all my labels printed and I didn't set everything on fire. Here's what I think I learned. Sometimes the devil's right. He just is. Also, the instruction manual mentions that this unit works with Windows and Mac, but NOT Chromebooks. I think it doesn't work with Chrome browser, either. I think it crashed my computer over and over because I was attempting to print from a PDF open in my Chrome browser, rather than from my computer system with Windows. This label printer does NOT like any form of Chrome. So as long as I am printing from the Windows-based system, it seems to do just fine. I have not yet tried this with my Etsy yet, though. I will try it soon and find out.Other wisdom: I am a first-time label-printer owner. This is the first time I've ever used a machine like this. Some of the mayhem I experienced may not be representative for most people and may be an artifact of my own ineptitude with technology. This review is based on what I learned and experienced using this product. Your millage may vary. After my last review, I received an email from the label machine company. They said that the feeder feet guide things are no longer part of the product and that I was not actually missing them. They said they had not updated their videos and instruction manuals to show the new model without the feeder guides and they will update it soon. So my success in figuring it out anyway may not have been entirely my awesome powers but Imma say some of it was.*Pros*The label print quality is excellent. The labels print super fast.So far, zero jamming or label feed issues.Installation is fairly quick.USB Flashdrive is CUTE.Includes starter labels.Machine itself is quite lovely to behold- simple, clean and well made.*Cons*Doesn't work in Chrome browsers.Feeder guides no longer on newer models, makes loading the first label awkward.Instruction manual needs updating. There is NO CUSTOMER SERVICE to call- there IS a number you can TEXT for help (TF??)Instruction manual not written my a fluent English speaker and is somewhat confusing in parts.Doesn't work with Shippo without some workarounds.ORIGINAL REVIEW-------------------------------------------When it came time to set up my new label printer I had trouble getting the labels to load. After a lot of time spent googling and watching you-tube videos of how to load the labels I realized that the parts of the label feeder feet were missing, rendering the machine useless.Luckily, Amazon made it fairly easy to return the item to my local UPS and they are sending a replacement. Hoping this was a weird fluke. When it arrives I will update this review. Crossing fingers everything is included this time.
