My HP printer died so I needed a new one. I don't use my printer every day so I didn't need a lot of bells and whistles or super great printing, I just needed to copy, print, or scan to emails occasionally. I was originally looking at HP since that is what I've always purchased but I am really turned off by needing to install an app to set up, change print quality, scan, whatever, and all new printers seem to require this. My HP could do everything from the display and I wanted that ability again. After reading many reviews I purchased this Brother printer. I don't need the fax but was happy that an app, although available, was not necessary to set up or use this printer. I am a techno-boob and was able to set it up, connect it to my Chromebook wirelessly and quickly, connected my desktop computer by cable (not included, I had one for the HP printer available), and was able to scan a document and send it to email all from the printer in about 20 minutes. Take heed of a previous reviewer and make note of the PIN number on the back, it will be necessary for updates. Connecting the computer cable to the USB port under the scanning bed is a little awkward in appearance (should be able to connect at the back of the machine in my opinion) but easy enough to do. This prints super fast and the ink cartridges are easy to insert into the front of the printer. I haven't needed to buy new ink cartridges yet but they are much cheaper than the HP ink. It stays connected wirelessly, unlike my previous HP which I often had to reconnect before being able to print from my Chromebook. All in all, so far, I am very pleased with this printer, its features, and its function at a very reasonable price.Setup was really a pain in the a**, felt like something from the early 2000's, not a modern product. It couldn't connect to my network wirelessly (for reasons I don't understand) so I had to do it by USB - except it uses one of those USA A/B cables from like 1998, not a USB-C or micro or anything you'd actually have in the house. I luckily found ONE old, dusty USB-A cable in a box somewhere, otherwise this printer would be on its way back to Amazon right now. It took like 2 hours - had to get the password off the back and type it in 2 or 3 times, had to read the tiny screen with the tiny commands (push the right-arrow button, then the down-arrow button, then the OK button, etc. etc.) Really felt like the 1990s, not plug and play for 2022, to me.Anywho, I did eventually get it all set up, and the quality is very good. Print quality is really good. Scanning is EXCELLENT and that's what I bought it for. The scanner is fast and the scan quality, excellent - the scanning and printing software is good too. Overall, a lot of value here for the low cost. The unit feels heavier and more solid than I was expecting, mainly due to the price.I would say I'm adept at most printers but in no way shape or form am I an expert. I used to work for Staples so I knew one of the printers I wanted to acquire would be Brother. They're one of the best when concerning ink conservation as well as being great at all-in-one printers. With most of the models you get a good amount of features at the price it's on the market for. I feel like I lucked out with this printer model. It's super simple to set up, my PC did the majority of the work for me (albeit I did have a little trouble getting my PC to recognize the new printer)Couldn't be happier with this device. Gets the job done, rather sufficient with ink and it's not entirely that loud so big plus.I was looking for a basic 3 in 1 printer for my home office to replace my HP. After having received and installed this printer, I do not know why I stuck by HP for so long. This printer is lightyears ahead of my former HP 3 in 1 printer.Despite some of hte reviews I read here for this printer, the installation of the drivers and printer programs was seamless and flawless both on my laptop and on my cell phone. Printing was crisp and much quicker than my former HP printer. The only negative I have is some of the plastics used in the paper tray are a bit flimsy.....but then again what do you expect for a 3 in 1 printer fully loaded with features for under $100...I must say, teh digital color display is really cool and the flip up feature on the control panel is most useful........this printer is highly recommended.I love this printer. I recently replaced another brand of printer and I was a little worried because I’d never used this brand before. After reading good reviews about it, I decided to purchase. I’m so glad I did…I love it! It was easy to set up. I was a little nervous about it, but I just followed the provided instructions and everything worked perfectly. I use it wirelessly and that worked great; connected immediately. I’ve also printed to it from my iPhone. The print quality is excellent. It’s super fast - printing, copying and scanning. I’ve used the one sheet copy and scan on the glass, and also used the multiple-page paper feeder on top. It saved me so much time from my previous printer. The printer utilities app that installed on my computer is straightforward and easy to use. It also has a fax machine but I’ve not used that as I haven’t had a need. I’ve used the print on both sides feature and that works fine. I also needed a printer that would both load paper and print to the front and this does that. I have this printer stored on a small rolling cart underneath my small desk in a kitchen nook where I do most of my work. I couldn’t be happier with it.Love this printer! When my old canon quit, I tried getting a new one like it primarily so I could use the extra ink cartridges in inventory. But after getting 3 replacement new canon printers, none of which worked right, I gave up. This lovely little brother printer was easy to setup, it connected with wifi seamlessly, and for the cost of this plus 1 XL ink cartridge it is still less expensive than the canon! Great print quality, relatively fast printing speed, nice features, I love the adjustable control panel and lite display. So much better! And as best I can tell so far, the ink is a lot less expensive too.
