I suspect that Xerox uses a toner that is a similar composition to the wax blocks used in the larger dye sublimation printers. Maybe they grind up the wax and mix it in with other materials. The result is a print that is similar to what you used to be able to get from a photo printer. Gloss and high quality. The down side is that is not as high quality as an actual commercial photo printer product. This printer also chews through a serious chunk of toner for every one whole page image printed so keep this in mind if you want to do major printing, this might not be your best choice. That being said it is decently fast, needing a warm up that takes maybe 40-60 seconds after the page is spooled (spooling has it's own time). Given that this can do a full page high quality in what to me seem like far less time than an ink jet, I would say it is worth it, only that these pages are not unlimited. Personally the toner cart size is the single largest draw back on this product. Ohh ya and the flip up page support, is really not esthetic, and I wish it sat a bit more flush rather than a sharp 45deg angle. Otherwise setup is easy requiring little more than the driver setup install to get you running. I favor the network connection and web interface. For more security you can run yours over USB. It has a Wifi Option, but I have not used that and I think it's works adhoc, direct as the router, meaning it doesn't wireless connect to your router for all. But if that is something you need there are 3rd party devices out there to support both by USB and Network.Anyway, no regrets in this purchase. Mind the toner levels. Don't expect miracles. You will be plenty happy.
